These ongoing projects bring people together from across Canada to tackle important plant health challenges. The work focuses on priority risks, enhanced coordination and the development of practical tools for growers, partners and organizations. Taken together, these initiatives support early detection of emerging issues, strengthen preparedness, and help protect Canada’s plant resources. Emergency plant health situations require quick and coordinated action. This project strengthens how plant health partners work together following the detection of a pest. The work improves communication, clarifies roles, and supports timely, consistent responses across organizations. It also encourages partners to practise real‑world scenarios in a safe, simulated environment, building confidence, testing approaches, and identifying gaps before an actual emergency occurs.
Beneficial insects are nature’s own pest control agents, include predators and parasitoids, that reduce pest populations and support sustainable agriculture. This project improves how these insects are monitored to better understand seasonal and regional population trends across Canada. The information gathered will help growers make more informed pest management decisions.
Strong on‑farm biosecurity helps prevent pests from being introduced or spread. This project supports producers by improving access to clear, practical, and up‑to‑date biosecurity resources that can be applied in day‑to‑day operations. It also keeps biosecurity guidance easy to understand, making it simpler to incorporate effective practices into regular activities. This approach encourages broader uptake and more consistent on‑farm implementation.
